The Sir Wilfred's Story

Hi! We are the Burton family, known on Maui for our local business Sir Wilfred's, regarded by Maui locals and customers across the globe as a true Maui gem. In pursuit of the American Dream in paradise, Ohio natives and newlyweds Bill and Cathy Burton (our mom and pop) moved to Maui in 1976 and poured their hearts and savings into opening the first coffee and tobacco store on the island.
Sir Wilfred's has always specialized in gourmet Hawaiian coffee, including 100% Kona and has been home to the widest selection of premium cigars in the state.
Over these four decades, Sir Wilfred's has expanded upon these two facets into many different and exciting ventures. We were proud to make a home at both the historic Maui Mall in Kahului, and the Lahaina Cannery Mall, featuring a rare combination of coffee, cigars, and full service restaurant and bar, beloved by local Maui professionals and home to live jazz on Sunday afternoons. We've had hit stores on Front Street, and  Whaler's Village in Kaanapali including a coffee kiosk providing warm and cold drinks to every thirsty soul on the Kaanapali hotel strip.
In the mid 90's, owner and mom to us kids Monte and Allison, Cathy had the bright idea to start the mail order, so that Maui visitors could continue to drink their favorite coffee back at home on the mainland. This idea quickly took off, and soon Cathy was shipping coffee all over the world.
Owner and pop, Bill, suffers from a lifelong passion of promoting live jazz and musicians with Maui Jazz Society, and is proud to have had a hand in bringing legends such as Dizzy Gillespie to the island and hosting live music at every one of Sir Wilfred's locations.
As times have surely changed for all the small businesses of this world, Sir Wilfred's has too. We said goodbye to our mom, Cathy, in September of 2014 and our last retail store on Front Street in Old Town Lahaina in the Fall of 2016.
We continue to ship our amazing coffee around the world. By the pound. Roasted fresh on Maui.

Aloha and mahalo for your support,
Bill, Monte, and Allison
